Gobble, Gobble

Gobble Gobble is a picture book written and illustrated by Cathryn Falwell. This book has colorful illustrations and informative (for the young), rhyming text about turkeys. Here's an excerpt:
                                           Turkeys! A flock of birds,
                                            with big strong feet.
                                            Turkeys look for seeds
                                            to eat.
For older children, there is 'Jenny's Journal' page at the end of the book. She talks about turkeys more in depth and provides turkey crafts. I really liked the book. I give it four out of five books!

Jo MacDonald Saw a Pond

Jo MacDonald Saw a Pond by Mary Quattlebaum and illustrated by Laura J. Bryant is a picture book based on the old song, "Old MacDonald Had a Farm". This is a fun book because you can choose to read the book or sing the book!  Here's an excerpt:
                       Jo MacDonald saw a pond,
                       E-I-E-I-O.
                       With a swish-swish here,
                       And a swish-swish there,
Here a swish, there a swish,
                       Everywhere a swish-swish.
                       Jo MacDonald saw a pond,
                       E-I-E-I-O.
I really enjoyed the book. I like the fresh new take on a old favorite!

Runaway Alphabet Review

Runaway Alphabet is a picture book written by Kari-Lynn Winters and illustrated by Ben Frey. It's a delightful book to read to your children or grandchildren. I enjoyed reading it and hope you do too! Here's an excerpt:
                      At the carnival Pa shivers.
                      "It's c-c-cold. Maybe some
                      food will warm us up."
                      "Pa, listen to the drums!"

                       d-d-ddd-d.
                       d-d-ddd-d.

The book has an introduction written by Marilyn Chapman, PhD who says that the book promotes 'young children's literacy development'.
The letters of the alphabet are presented in a fun way. Here's another excerpt:
rrrrrr, rumbles the snowmobile that takes people up
the mountain. Nan grabs a tube and hops on.
